Hope

All of our rescues and sanctuary dogs are special and important to us but every now and then one will touch our heart in a special way, Hope was one of those.

Rescued litterally from the brink of death, she was severely emaciated and it was questionable if she would survive.

Hope's Story

Hope when she was rescuedIn June 2008, Hope was turned in with her 8 puppies by her owner. Six pups were put down as it was felt they were too sickly and she was to weak to proviade adequate nutrition for all of them. At the vet, she was given a 1 on the BMI scale. Basically she could not be any thinner and still be alive. She weighed only 33.4 pounds and should have weighed 70 lbs.

Along with Hope, we resuced her two remaining surviving puppies, Chip and Dale.  Of the two, only one survived, even with all the love and care we could give.Hope as she was when she was rescued

These couple pictures of Hope when she was rescued just barely show the atrocious condition she was in.  Every bone protruded, no muscle left.  She could barely stand or walk left alone care for puppies.

It takes a very cruel and sick person to let a dog get into this condition and sadly her owner will never pay the price.  Too many dogs, too much neglect and abuse and just not enough laws and support to do anything about it!

After more than a month of intense care, feedings 6-8 times a day to begin with, Hope blossomed and filled out.  She learned to play and just be a dog.  It was so rewarding knowing how she started out just to see her playing and wrestling with other dogs.

The two pictures above are of Hope and CJ, an amputee that was also adopted, playing and wrestling like normal, happy dogs do.  It was such a joy to watch them both!!

And the best part? A truly Happy Ending - Hope has been adopted!! Now she will have a the chance she should have had from the beginning, love, a home, regular feedings and so much more!!

She truly stole hearts with her strength and courage!
